Mid-State Food Brokers has been in business for 33 years, representing major food manufacturers and bringing their products to market. The company was founded in 1971 by Harold La Patra after several years in a management capacity at Sysco Frosted Foods. He was active in all areas of management and heavily involved in sales. Most of that activity was in the upstate New York market.

The company started from scratch, made a strong commitment to foodservice, and has enjoyed growth in both profits and sales each year. Current annual sales forecasts will exceed 110 million dollars. Its noteworthy that the 2 major Principals Mid-State started with - Lamb Weston and Pierce Foods - are still represented by the company.

In 1986, Mid-State began an aggressive expansion plan to cover all of upstate New York. This was accomplished by bringing together a team of experienced foodservice professionals. Don Mueller joined the company in 1987 merging Don-Mar Associates into Mid-State. He brought 12 years of experience in foodservice sales and management to the company.
